Dawnwalker Echoes of Silenced Bells: Burn the Notes or Help Anca?

The convent bell solution, Monastery Keys, Relic of St. Tyna, Saint's Tibia, Leonica fight and every consequence of Anca's final choice.

Quick answer

Use the Monastery Keys to reach the bell tower, ring the infirmary signal so the cursed nuns attack Brencis's soldiers, then ring the church signal to clear the route. After Leonica, giving Anca the notes cures the nuns but requires another dark pact; burning them leaves the nuns cursed. Neither choice blocks Anca's romance or her next quest.

Major choice spoilers and missables

This guide reveals the St. Tyna's Convent puzzle, the Leonica boss and the final notes decision. Make a manual save before entering the crypt if you want to compare both epilogue outcomes.

Before solving the courtyard, collect Saint's Tibia from the corpse below the western ladder. It is used by a later quest. The Relic of St. Tyna in the sacristy is an Epic Amulet, so do not hand it to the soldiers unless you deliberately prefer their shortcut.

  • Missable carry-forward item: Saint's Tibia
  • Optional equipment: Relic of St. Tyna
  • Best-value courtyard route: use the bells
  • Decision save: before the post-Leonica conversation

Reach the library without giving up the relic

Find the Monastery Keys hanging in the wooden groundskeeper's shed beside the sacristy on the west side of the courtyard. The keys open the sacristy, the building with a small cross, where the Relic of St. Tyna is on the dead nun.

Instead of trading the amulet to Brencis's trapped soldiers, enter the neighboring house and read Campana Loquitur. It explains that the cursed nuns still obey the convent's bell routine. Unlock the eastern bell tower below and climb to the rope.

Correct bell order

Ring the infirmary signal first. The zombie nuns move to the building where Brencis's soldiers are trapped and eliminate them. Ring the church signal second to pull the nuns away and clear the courtyard for Anca.

Loot the soldiers and open buildings before telling Anca the way is safe. This route retains the Relic of St. Tyna and avoids fighting the self-reviving nuns directly.

Leonica and the real choice

Continue through the library and crypt to Leonica, She Who Speaks With the Devil. After the fight, Anca explains that Leonica was attempting to cure the convent's nuns and wants to finish the work from her notes.

The first objection dialogue is not the lasting branch. The meaningful choice is whether Coen destroys the notes or lets Anca use them. Both routes continue into Between the Words and keep Anca's romance available.

ChoiceImmediate outcomeLater effect
Give Anca the notesThe nuns are freed from the curseAnca makes another dark pact; the outcome appears in later dialogue and the epilogue
Burn the notesAnca is briefly upset; the nuns remain cursedNo further pact here; the convent's fate appears in the epilogue

Which choice is better?

For the convent, giving Anca the notes produces the better immediate result because the nuns are cured. The cost is narrative rather than a lost quest or romance: Anca implies that she used another unholy bargain.

Burn the notes if your role-play priority is preventing that pact. Mechanically, early launch testing finds no blocked romance, no missing follow-up quest and no major reward difference, so this is a story decision rather than a build optimization.

Frequently asked questions

What is the correct bell order in Echoes of Silenced Bells?

Ring the infirmary signal first, then the church signal. This removes the soldiers and clears the route for Anca.

Should you burn Leonica's notes?

Give Anca the notes to cure the nuns; burn them to prevent her next dark pact. Neither option blocks her romance or the following quest.

Where are the Monastery Keys?

They hang inside the wooden groundskeeper's shed beside the sacristy on the west side of the convent courtyard.

Where is Saint's Tibia?

It is on a corpse below the ladder on the west side of the courtyard. Pick it up because a later quest uses it.

Can you keep the Relic of St. Tyna?

Yes. Use the bell solution instead of trading the Epic Amulet to Brencis's soldiers.
