Quick answer

Complete Lacra's chain in this order: A Friend Like This → Song of the Mountain → Hive and Seek → Our Rotten Roots → The Night of Horrors → Midnight Reckoning. Wait one full in-game day after Our Rotten Roots to unlock The Night of Horrors, finish that optional quest before telling Lacra you are ready for Brencis, and keep a manual save before Midnight Reckoning because it starts an ending and fails unfinished quests.

Major companion and ending spoilers

This guide names Lacra's full quest order, late rewards and the point of no return before Brencis. It does not reveal the final ending scene, but the quest names themselves are spoilers.

The route below separates reproduced quest requirements from provisional troubleshooting. Do not run community save-editing scripts on your only save; preserve the original file and a pre-dialogue manual slot first.

Lacra quest order and time costs

Lacra's core route contains four required side quests, one optional but missable companion quest, and one ending quest. The practical route is to complete all six in sequence rather than jumping from Our Rotten Roots directly into Midnight Reckoning.

The one-day delay after Our Rotten Roots is a quest condition, not a requirement to stand still. Spend those 16 segments on unrelated work, then return to Lacra at Westridge Outpost Tower.

Start A Friend Like This in Svartrau

Go to the alley beneath the north-east city wall in Svartrau. Use Focus Mode to inspect the yellow-highlighted evidence, then follow the highlighted route across the rooftops. The investigation leads to a vrakhir encounter and introduces Lacra.

Finish the encounter and dialogue to start Song of the Mountain. That follow-up opens the path to the hidden Uriash Village; trying to reach the settlement before the quest route produces the normal boundary warning rather than a shortcut.

  • Enter the alley at the north-east edge of Svartrau
  • Hold Focus Mode and inspect every yellow clue
  • Follow the trail across the roofs
  • Complete the encounter and speak with Lacra

Hive and Seek and Our Rotten Roots

After Song of the Mountain, talk to Lacra in Uriash Village to begin Hive and Seek. The quest takes the pair into the caves looking for Isbrand and spends four segments. Finish its dialogue state before leaving the village route.

Our Rotten Roots then moves Lacra to Westridge Outpost Tower. Completing it awards the reported Piercing Shriek Vampirism ability and begins the delay before her optional personal quest.

Do The Night of Horrors before Midnight Reckoning

After 16 in-game segments have passed, return to Lacra at Westridge Outpost Tower and ask about the idea she wanted to discuss. The Night of Horrors is optional for reaching the ending quest, but it is the only route to the Misery Loves Company achievement and its late Mandrake rewards.

Eating the Mandrake unlocks Mandrake Ward. Following the later blood-sharing romance prompts unlocks Mesmerize, but romance is not required to finish Lacra's story. Complete the quest before selecting the Brencis attack line.

  • Wait 16 segments after Our Rotten Roots
  • Ask Lacra about the idea she wanted to discuss
  • Finish the crypt and Mandrake sequence
  • Confirm the quest is complete before starting Midnight Reckoning

Midnight Reckoning point of no return

Midnight Reckoning begins when you tell Lacra at Westridge Outpost Tower that it is time to deal with Brencis. This is an ending lock-in: unfinished quests fail and the route moves directly toward the castle sequence.

Create a fresh manual save before that conversation. Keep it until the credits and achievement have registered so you can reload for remaining quests or other endings.

Safe fixes for a missing or stuck Lacra objective

Only one Lacra-chain blocker has a specific official patch confirmation: Hotfix 1.0.4 fixed a Hive and Seek solution that could end prematurely. The current Steam thread about the Lacra/Brencis sequence confirms that players are still reporting trouble, but it does not establish one universal cause or a developer-approved repair.

Use the reversible checks below in order. If a pre-dialogue save reproduces the same block on the current game version, keep that save and send it with the exact objective, platform and build to official support. Do not overwrite the last working branch while testing.

Confirmed versus provisional

The six-quest order, start locations, reported time costs, one-day delay, optional status of The Night of Horrors and Midnight Reckoning lock-in are corroborated by the complete PowerPyx route and an independent full-chain walkthrough. Hotfix 1.0.4 provides first-party confirmation for the named Hive and Seek fix.

The current Lacra/Brencis Steam report is evidence of an active player problem, not proof of a universal bug or workaround. Reloading a pre-dialogue save, disabling mods for the retest and preserving the original save are low-risk diagnostics; no save edit is presented as verified.

Frequently asked questions

What is the correct Lacra quest order?

A Friend Like This, Song of the Mountain, Hive and Seek, Our Rotten Roots, The Night of Horrors, then Midnight Reckoning.

Why is The Night of Horrors not appearing?

After Our Rotten Roots, one full in-game day must pass. Advance 16 segments on other quests, then return to Lacra at Westridge Outpost Tower.

Is The Night of Horrors missable?

Yes. It is optional for starting Midnight Reckoning, but beginning the ending route fails unfinished quests. Complete it first for Misery Loves Company and its unique rewards.

Does Midnight Reckoning end the game?

It starts Lacra's ending route and fails unfinished quests. Make a separate manual save before telling Lacra you are ready to attack Brencis.

How do you fix a stuck Lacra quest?

Install the latest patch, verify the one-day requirement, and retest from a manual save before the blocking dialogue. Hotfix 1.0.4 specifically fixed one premature Hive and Seek solution; later Lacra/Brencis stalls do not yet have one confirmed universal fix.
