In RPG Site's August 30 review-build testing, Steam Deck could not hold 30 FPS and dropped below 20 FPS in open areas. ROG Ally Z1 Extreme was roughly 30–40 FPS at 720p, while MSI Claw 7 AI+ reached roughly 30–50 FPS at 1080p low. Patches can change these results.
Test conditions matter
These figures come from one publication's pre-release review build, not an official performance promise. Power profile, memory allocation, upscaler, area, shader compilation and future patches can all change results.
Steam Deck verdict
Both LCD and OLED models were tested at 720p on the lowest settings. Open areas could fall below 20 FPS and a stable 30 FPS was not achieved, so the safest launch-week advice is to wait for patches or stream from a stronger PC.
ROG Ally Z1 Extreme
At 25 W with 6 GB assigned to the GPU, 720p low settings and XeSS Balanced or Performance, the tested unit generally ran around 30–40 FPS early in the game. Stutters and occasional cutscene freezes were still observed.
MSI Claw 7 AI+
At 30 W, 1080p low and XeSS Balanced, the tested Claw ran around 30–50 FPS. A 30 FPS cap was the more consistent target, aside from minor stutters.
